Photographing ceramics in daylight
Glazed ceramics are mirrors with opinions. Studio strobes produce hard specular highlights that hide the texture of the glaze, so for Oakmere we worked next to a large north-facing window with a sheet of tracing paper as a diffuser.
The rest was patience: one piece at a time, a grey card at the start of every batch, and very little retouching afterwards.
